Happy Family Day, Nation! It’s a snowy holiday Monday in the capital city but that doesn’t mean we can’t take some time to enjoy the Edmonton Oilers standing alone atop the Pacific Division.
To kick off today’s episode, Dusty starts with a breakdown of the Oilers’ recent run of success despite nothing having Connor McDavid in the lineup. In the four games without their captain, Edmonton has won three of four, which is an impressive stretch that many may not have expected. Powering the team forward, Leon Draisaitl seems to have taken his game to another level as he currently finds himself with an incredible 95 points in only 59 games. Is he doing enough to cement himself in the conversation for the Hart Trophy? Next up, Dusty looks ahead at the trade deadline to see if Ken Holland’s plan may have changed considering how much other teams are paying for their rentals. Would the Oilers want to give up a first round pick for a guy with an expiring contract? Would Jesse Puljujarvi+ be enough to land the Oilers some kind of upgrade? Shifting gears to the current roster, Dusty wonders what it would look like to re-sign Josh Archibald and wonder whether or not $1.2 million for two years would be enough to get a deal done. Lastly, the conversation shifted to some of the potential trade deadline targets that the Oilers might look and along with an educated guess as to whether or not they’re likely to happen.

THE HAIR MASSACURE
