The Edmonton Oilers will be trying to bounce back from Wednesday’s loss to the Ottawa Senators when they host the Los Angeles Kings on Friday as -165 favourites on the NHL odds at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.
Edmonton blew an early lead on its way to a 5-2 loss to the Senators as heavy -210 chalk on Wednesday, and has now dropped three straight on home ice going into Friday night’s matchup at Rogers Place.

The Oilers’ loss to Ottawa also extended a trend that has seen the team fall to defeat in three of four overall contests while surrendering four goals per game during that stretch. Those numbers get even worse when looking at the team’s recent performance on home ice, where the Oilers have surrendered five goals in each of their three recent defeats, and five or more goals in five of their past eight home dates.
While the Oilers’ recent shaky performances have left them in a tight three-way race with Arizona and Vegas for first place in the Pacific Division, those taking the OVER on the totals at betting sites have enjoyed steady success. The OVER has paid out in each of Edmonton’s past four home dates, and is 9-3 in the team’s past 12 dates at Rogers Place.
The Oilers struggled in their first visit to Los Angeles this season, dropping a 5-1 decision while pegged as -130 road chalk. However, Edmonton has dominated in recent meetings with the Kings on home ice, posting wins in each of their past four, according to the OddsShark NHL Database, and scoring 14 total goals in high-scoring affairs in the Kings’ past two visits.
Fortunately for the Oilers, the Kings arrive in town amid struggles of their own. Los Angeles is coming off a 3-1 loss to the visiting Washington Capitals on Wednesday night, and will hit the ice on Friday pegged as a +145 underdog.
It has been another largely disappointing campaign for the Kings, who sit at the bottom of the Pacific Division standings with an 11-16-2 record. Los Angeles has been particularly bad on the road, and sports an NHL worst 2-10-1 away record after falling to defeat in each of the team’s past nine road dates, scoring just 12 total goals during that stretch.
