Let’s all admire Ryan Nugent-Hopkins’ shorthanded goal again, shall we?

After last night’s big win over the Washington Capitals, I think it’s appropriate that we all take a quick moment this morning and treat ourselves to a little piece of magic from our friend Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. His shorthanded goal against the Caps was absolutely ridiculous and I wanted to give the man another shout out for his wizardry.
Since I’m almost positive that all of you have already watched this highlight a few times by now, you’ll likely understand why I think this goal deserves another look. From the mind-reading larceny on Carlson, to the filthy dangle on Backstrom, to the final snipe show on Holtby, this was an all-world goal from #93 and an exclamation point on a wonderful special teams performance by the Oilers against one of the league’s best. Add in the fact that it was the game-winner and you’ve got the makings of a very happy Baggedmilk.
Let’s all watch it again together, shall we?
As it stands right now, our boy is on pace for a career year and it’s goals like this one that are going to get him there. For me, the sitting president of the Ryan Nugent-Hopkins fan club, it’s not at all surprising to see the guy weave some magic like this. As the year goes on, I’m sure Nuge will fall off the 112-point pace he’s on right now, but there’s no doubt that he’s having a hell of a start to the season and for that I’m grateful. Hell of a goal, Nuge, and we salute you.
