When Connor McDavid leaves a game with a potential injury it sends panic throughout the Nation. Fortunately, on this night, the news we got is positive.
I doubt I’m alone when I say that my heart skipped a beat when Connor McDavid left the game late in the third period after blocking a point shot from Jeff Petry. I bet if we had listened close enough we would have been able to hear an audible gasp coming from the greater Edmonton area.
Fortunately for Oilersnation, Connor McDavid escaped the play without breaking his foot and is expected to play in Winnipeg on Wednesday. When Todd McLellan spoke to the media after the game, the first thing he touched on was Connor’s injury:
“The doctors have X-rayed it and it came back negative. The foot is a little sore obviously, but he’s in good spirits.”
Todd, you have no idea how happy I am to hear this. I’m not going to lie to you, when I saw him being helped off the ice I started to have some horrible war flashbacks from… well… you know when. The Oilers are finally getting on a roll and the thought of losing Connor was too much for me to bear. Tell me, Coach Todd, is he going to be alright?
“We fully expect him to play in Winnipeg.”
I think I can speak for every single human being that calls themselves an Oilers fan when I say, “THANK YOU SWEET BABY JEBUS FOR THIS GIFT OF ALL GIFTS!” My friends, we’ve just witnessed a Festivus miracle. Now we can all enjoy our Christmas.
