Nation Drafts 2015 charity playoff pool update

The Nation Network isn’t accustomed to playoff success. What else do you expect from a blog network based out of Edmonton?
We’re experts in the draft lottery though, and we know a thing or two about playoff pools – particularly the Nation Drafts charity playoff pool that we run annually. With the second round of the 2015 Stanley Cup playoffs already in full swing, let’s take a moment, look back at round one, and check out the progress that the Nation Network’s poolies are making in the competition!
Here’s how our top-10 leaderboard looks following the first round of competition:
We might expect some significant movement this round though.
The team in first place “Visually Bold” has lost 10 of 20 players to eliminations already, which should make holding their lead a rather difficult task in this second round. It’s like Visually Bold jumped out to an early three goal lead in an elimination game, but unfortunately have a still-wounded Ryan Miller in net…
Of the top-five teams look out for “ImTopher” and “Cruellspell’s winning combo.” Both contenders have 16 of 20 players remaining in action. Like the Anaheim Ducks, they’re poised to go deep!
Look out also for “The Ever Disappointed Oil Faithful” in second place. This competitor obviously came up with their Nation Drafts handle before the recent draft lottery. Based on their many recent blessings – from the McJesus result, to their early success in our playoff pool – have a rare occasion to smile at the moment.
In terms of players, several St. Louis Blues players – like Vladimir Tarasenko and Kevin Shattenkirk – lit up the first round, but now that they’re out, expect them to be surpassed in the standings by well rested Ducks players like Corey Perry and Sami Vatanen. Perry is already steam rolling in the second round, to the surprise of absolutely nobody.
Obviously one of the biggest disappointment for fantasy team owner’s in the first round had to be Steven Stamkos’ modest 3 assists in 7 games. Scoring isn’t going to get any easier for him in the second round shooting, as he will be, at Carey Price.
So that’s where we sit after one round! Thank you to all the Nations Citizens and poolies who signed up for this year’s charity playoff pool, and we’ll be back to update you before the start of the Conference Finals!
