Amid all of the free agent news and signings happening on July 1st, the Oilers announced via their social media channels that the 2023-24 season will kick off on October 9th against the Winnipeg Jets at Rogers Place.
After what is sure to be a busy offseason in Edmonton, the Oilers will hit the ice and show what they’ve got after fewer than 90 days of off-season activities. After taking the Stanley Cup Final to seven games, fans won’t have to wait long before seeing what the team can do to follow up on what was undoubtedly a rollercoaster ride in Edmonton this spring. The Oilers and Jets have battled each other very hard over the last handful of seasons, making this upcoming season opener a fiery way to start the 2024-25 campaign.
Today’s announcement follows Edmonton’s pre-season schedule release from last week, which features eight tune-up games.
  • September 22nd vs Winnipeg
  • September 23rd vs Calgary in a split-squad
  • September 25th at Winnipeg
  • September 28th vs Seattle
  • September 30th vs Vancouver
  • October 2nd at Seattle
  • October 4th at Vancouver
With only 83 days to go until the pre-season kicks off, the summer is about to fly by for Oilers fans who can’t wait to get the next season going. While it’s certainly not ideal that there are seven pre-season nights to work through, there is little doubt that the 2024-25 season will be the most anticipated in Northern Alberta in quite some time.
