The Edmonton Oilers started to look more like themselves last night, specifically in the third period. They looked more like Edmonton from the first 11 games of the year in the second period, which wasn’t good. There were lots of turnovers, and puck battles allowed the Detroit Red Wings to claw their way back into the game. Despite that, Connor McDavid did what he does best.
The Oilers scored five goals in the third period, and the Oilers captain played a role in four of them. McDavid secured his 600th career assist in 618 games, making him the fourth-fastest player in NHL history to achieve that milestone. Evan Bouchard and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins both finished with three points each, with both players scoring goals. Additionally, Cody Ceci ended his goal drought, and Leon Draisaitl had a pair of points. Down the depth chart, Vincent Desharnais, Dylan Holloway, Evander Kane and Zach Hyman all scored a point in the win.
Tyler Yaremchuk and Liam Horrobin go live for Oilersnation Everyday at noon to break down last night’s action at Rogers Place. You can head to the Oilersnation YouTube channel to watch and leave your questions, comments and concerns in the Charm Diamond Centres YouTube live chat. I want you to know that your comments are welcome throughout the show.
Later in the show, Tyler and Liam are joined by Frank Seravalli from Daily Faceoff. Today on Daily Faceoff Live, Frank linked the Oilers with a former homegrown talent, and the price was very reasonable. They’ll also discuss the Oilers’ plans for the trade deadline, what’s going on around the league, and the latest update from Arizona.
Viewers can catch Tyler Yaremchuk and Liam Horrobin on Oilersnation Everyday on the Oilersnation YouTube Channel. You can also view the show on Twitter and Facebook. After the show has streamed live, you can find it on all your podcast providers.
