The regular season wrapped up last night for the Edmonton Oilers with a good old-fashioned victory. The Oilers defeated the San Jose Sharks 5-2 at Rogers Place to close out their 82 game season with a 50-23-9 record.
Mattias Janmark opened up the scoring with what would be his first of two goals on the evening. Leon Draisaitl followed his lead with his 52nd of the season, and then Evan Bouchard and Evander Kane helped extend the cushion a little more. Stuart Skinner had another strong performance between the pipes, too, stopping 27 of the 29 shots he faced.
After the buzzer sounded at Rogers Place, attention turned to the Vegas Golden Knights and Seattle Kraken matchup. A win for Seattle would crown the Oilers as Western Conference and Pacific Division champions. However, it was not meant to be, as the Golden Knights came away with two points meaning the Oilers will now face the LA Kings in round one of the playoffs.
Tyler Yaremchuk and Liam Horrobin will put a bow on the regular season and also look at that round-one series versus the Kings. Also, joining them on the show will be Baggedmilk for the Bro Down.
