We are only one week away from puck drop between the Edmonton Oilers and the Vancouver Canucks at Rogers Arena; as the clock ticks closer to the start of the regular season. However, before we get too far ahead of ourselves, the Oilers have a couple more pre-season games ahead of them, starting with the Calgary Flames tonight.
What should fans be looking for in this game? The prominent place to start is that 12th-forward spot. Is tonight the night Raphael Lavoie grabs the spot for himself, or can Adam Erne have something to say about it? Let Tyler Yaremchuk and Liam Horrobin know your thoughts in the YouTube chat. To interact with the guys throughout the show, subscribe to the Oilersnation YouTube channel.
Ryan Pinder from Flamesnation and Barn Burner joins the show midway through. Last season was a dismal one for the Calgary Flames, but changes this off-season look to have changed the tide down south. Ryan Conroy is the new general manager, and Ryan Huska is the new head coach. Additionally, after news broke over the summer that half the team wanted to leave, rumours have changed due to Conroy’s work recruiting his players to stay in Calgary, starting with Mikael Backlund. Today, with Pinder, Tyler and Liam will talk about all that and the expectations of this group, who narrowly missed the postseason in 2023.
Towards the end of the show, we will check in with Tyler about what happened to his Toronto Blue Jays yesterday in game one of their series versus the Minnesota Twins. The Blue Jays get the chance to redeem themselves today, but can they do it?
