The Kris Knoblauch era starts with a bang as the Edmonton Oilers defeat the New York Islanders 4-1. The Oilers got significant contributions from their top guns, with Leon Draisaitl leading the charge with a goal and three assists. Additionally, Connor McDavid ended his goalless drought with his third of the year. Zach Hyman and Evander Kane each grabbed a goal in the win, too.
The start was less than ideal for Edmonton, who allowed the Islanders to score 40 seconds into the first period. From then on, Stuart Skinner was able to settle into his crease, stopping the next 31 shots. Skinner has now had back-to-back games of allowing one goal and has a save percentage of over 0.940.
One unfortunate incident that happened last night was Dylan Holloway’s injury. Holloway didn’t return to the game following the crash into the boards, and his status for future games is still questionable. In his absence, who should be stepping into his role on the third line?
Tyler Yaremchuk and Liam Horrobin will dig into everything that happened last night down at Rogers Place. Even with the two points in the bag, there was still plenty to talk about as the Oilers looked to get back on a straighter path under their new head coach.
Joining Tyler and Liam on the show is Bruce Curlock. With Bruce, the three of them will discuss what a Knoblauch team could look like in the coming weeks. Along with that, they will talk about the play of Raphael Lavoie, and James Hamblin and who could potentially come up to replace Holloway.
