For the first time this season, the Oilers are looking to bounceback from a loss after failing to pick up two points against the Chicago Blackhawks on Monday night. Despite the fact that they’re coming off a loss, there are plenty of reasons to be optimistic about the Oilers right now. Not only are they 5-1-0 on the year, but their next two games are against teams that will be playing in the second half of back-to-back games.
Tonight, they’ll welcome the Philadelphia Flyers to Ice District. After starting the year with two straight wins, the Flyers are currently on a two-game losing streak and coming to the end of a tough travel schedule. Out of their four games this season, three have been in different time zones. On positive for Philly is that they’ll have Carter Hart between the pipes and he has been nothing but fantastic throughout his young NHL career.
The Oilers will also have a bit of a different look tonight when they take to the ice. Forward @Joakim Nygard will miss the next 2-4 weeks with a rib injury which means that @Patrick Russell draws back in. @Mikko Koskinen will also start between the pipes for the home side.
I went through all of that and more in today’s Pre-Game podcast which you can download directly in this article or by heading to Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or Google Play!
