Oilersnation Radio Episode 34 – Oilers offseason plans, GM talk, and the Stanley Cup playoffs

Welcome, Internet friends, to the 34th episode of the award winning Oilersnation Radio podcast! As we do every week, we’ve rounded up all the Oilers news we can find to talk about and coupled it with all kinds of playoff talk to fill out another jam-packed episode!

To start off this week’s podcast, we jumped in with a look at Connor McDavid’s third consecutive Ted Lindsay nomination and debated on whether or not he has the chance at the three-peat. If he can pull it off, he would be one of only four players to ever win the award in three consecutive seasons, but it won’t be easy with Nikita Kucherov coming in as an early favourite. From there, we looked at the long list of items that need to get checked off in the offseason, including a look at what’s going to happen in net. Can Mikko Koskinen shore up the holes in his game to prove the doubters wrong? In other Oilers news, former head coach Todd McLellan was named as the new bench boss in LA this past week, and part of the press circuit that came with the announcement was looking back at his time in Edmonton. We break down McLellan’s comments and offer our best wishes to him in LA. Sticking with the Oilers, Evan Bouchard had himself a hell of a week after he shone in his AHL debut with the Condors and won the OHL’s defenceman of the year award. Lastly, we finished up the podcast with a look at the NHL playoffs, the long list of first round upsets, and whether or not the officiating debacles from the first round will lead to changes in the offseason.
