Another week is winding down and that means a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio is here to get you set for the weekend. This week, we look at the five year anniversary of the Connor McDavid draft, Kevin Lowe’s induction into the Hockey Hall of Fame, hub city bachelor, and a whole lot more.
To kick off this week’s podcast, we jumped in with a look at the NHL Draft Lottery that’s set to take place tonight and offered a look at what organizational need the Oilers should try to take care of at this year’s draft. Should they look at taking a skilled forward? Maybe fish for a goalie with the potential to be a starter? Sticking with the NHL Draft, today marked the five year anniversary of the Connor McDavid draft so we looked back on the past five years, including our favourite things he does on the ice and where we were on that incredible night. From there, we looked at Kevin Lowe’s inclusion in the 2020 Hockey Hall of Fame class and how many folks on Twitter were upset by him being thrown in there. Despite not having many points during his 1254 NHL game career, you can’t deny his resume and six Stanley Cups that he went along with the fine work he did with Team Canada. Lastly, we talked about how the NHL still hasn’t announced where the hub cities will be for the 24-team playoff tournament, which is strange because Phase 3 of the return to play plan is supposed to kick off in only two weeks.
