It’s a Tuesday afternoon, and that means a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio is here to help you break down all things Edmonton Oilers. This week, we’re looking at the Oilers’ two most recent losses, the goaltending situation, and what else is happening around the league.
Kicking off the pod, we started with a conversation about the Oilers’ six-game homestand that wrapped up with a 4-2 record. If you were going to put a letter grade on those six games, what would it be? The team played very well through that win streak outside of the last couple of games, so how would you rate this stretch? Looking ahead to tonight’s matchup against the Islanders, we started the preview with a look at the new line combos from practice yesterday, and how it’s a shame to see the top line split up to try and create more balance. We then looked at the goaltending situation, and whether or not the Oilers would come out ahead if these Karel Vejmelka rumours ever came to fruition. Would spending assets on the Coyotes backup goalie provide relief between the pipes? Looking at the league as a whole, we brought Woz in for a quick round of Can You Clear That Up For Me to shed some light on some of the stories and issues that surround the team. Lastly, we looked at tonight’s matchup against the Islanders and gave our score predictions for what will be a very important first game of the road trip.
