David Pelletier grew up in rural Quebec, and he barely spoke English when he went to his first skating competition in Saskatoon.
He and partner Jamie Sale won a gold medal in pairs figure skating at the 2002 Salt Lake Olympics, but only after a judge admitted she was pressured to give Russia higher marks.
Pelletier joined Jason Strudwick and I on the Podcast this week and he gave us some insight on what happened behind the scenes and the days after he and Sale had been robbed of a gold medal and been awarded the silver.
Pelletier also had some great insight into one of the worst mistakes sport parents make. He related it to his own experiences growing up and now what he sees as a father of a minor hockey goalie.
It was great stuff. He is currently the skating coach for the Edmonton Oilers, just returned from a skating show in Japan, he had a few good chirps for both Struds and I, and he discussed a skating move that Connor McDavid has yet to conquer.
Pelletier was a fantastic guest. Hope you enjoy.
