Welcome, loyal citizens, to a brand new Monday episode of the Real Life Podcast that’s ready and locked in to get you set for playoff week. This week, the guys looked at the NHL’s return, life in the bubble, NBA problems, and a whole lot more.
To kick off this week’s podcast, the guys jumped in with a look at what is certainly a very exciting week in the world of hockey as the NHL’s fourth phase of their return to play plan kicks off this week. With players arriving in Edmonton and Toronto over the past couple of days, we’re starting to get a look at what the amenities are like inside the bubble and the boys were certainly impressed by the initial glimpses we’ve seen so far. Somehow life in the bubble spawned a conversation about Chalmers’ new Traeger smoker that he bought, including all of its features and the wings he plans on cooking in the coming weeks. After getting the show back on the rails, the boys discussed all things Seattle Kraken (jerseys, logo, name, colours) and briefly wondered what’s going to happen to our own roster with the upcoming expansion draft. On a more serious note, the guys discussed the reality of Edmonton being a hub city and what that means during a pandemic when Oilers fans are likely going to want to get together in groups and celebrate the playoffs. Lastly, the guys wrapped up this week’s podcast with a look at the postseason and what they expect from the Oilers as their play-in series against the Blackhawks kicks off on Saturday afternoon.
