The Edmonton Oilers will be looking to stay perfect on home ice this season when they host the Detroit Red Wings on Friday as strong -200 favourites on the NHL odds at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.
Edmonton continued to fill the net on Wednesday as the team romped to a 6-3 win over the visiting Philadelphia Flyers to maintain their early lead atop the Pacific Division with a 6-1-0 record going into Friday night’s matchup at Rogers Place.

Red Wings at Oilers | OddsShark Matchup Report

The Oilers earned the win over Philadelphia despite being outshot by a wide 52-22 margin thanks to another spectacular performance by Connor McDavid. The Oilers captain tallied a goal and four assists to move atop the NHL scoring race with 17 points through seven games, while goaltender Mikko Koskinen slammed the door with 49 saves.
The massive number of shots on goal in Wednesday’s win as -130 chalk at betting sites remains a concern. The Oilers have now been outshot by wide margins in three of their past four outings, and rank dead last in the NHL with just 25.6 shots on goal per game. However, with the club posting wins in the face of a nightly assault, the Oilers have continued their rise up the odds to win the Pacific Division, where they now trail only the Vegas Golden Knights as +400 second favourites.
The Oilers have also enjoyed regular success in recent dates with Detroit. Edmonton has posted wins in five of eight matchups with the Red Wings since March 2015, but has fallen to defeat in each of its past two meetings with Detroit on home ice, scoring just two total goals in those contests according to the OddsShark NHL Database.
The Red Wings continue a lengthy seven-game stretch against Canadian opponents as +170 underdogs on the betting lines for Friday. The club has struggled since opening the season with consecutive wins over Nashville and Dallas, posting just one victory in five contests since capped by a 5-1 loss in Calgary against the Flames on Thursday night as +200 underdogs.
The Red Wings have struggled to produce consistent results in the early going, scoring two or fewer goals in four of their past five outings, but have averaged 3.33 goals per game over their past six visits to Edmonton.
