The Oilers earned the win over Philadelphia despite being outshot by a wide 52-22 margin thanks to another spectacular performance by Connor McDavid. The Oilers captain tallied a goal and four assists to move atop the NHL scoring race with 17 points through seven games, while goaltender Mikko Koskinen slammed the door with 49 saves.

The club has struggled since opening the season with consecutive wins over Nashville and Dallas, posting just one victory in five contests since capped by a 5-1 loss in Calgary against the Flames on Thursday night as +200 underdogs.
The Red Wings have struggled to produce consistent results in the early going, scoring two or fewer goals in four of their past five outings, but have averaged 3.33 goals per game over their past six visits to Edmonton.
