Risky Business is brought to you by NHL odds site Betway!
After the way the Oilers blew their shot to beat an injury-riddled Colorado Avalanche team on Saturday night, I was very curious to see what kind of effort we would get against the Kings. Not only is LA a team the Oilers are chasing in the standings, but they’ve also played a couple more games than we have at this point, making this an opportunity for a four-point swing that the boys need to seize. I’m not saying it’s a must-win game in terms of making the playoffs, but you have to think it’s pretty close to a must-win situation in the spiritual sense. But as we all know, believing the Oilers should win and having them actually do it is a different animal entirely.
If you’re following along at home, the odds I’ll be using for my game day betting articles all season come from Betway. Here’s what I’m putting down against the Kings:

Player Prop:

Connor McDavid anytime goal scorer at +105. My $5 bet would return $10.25.

Easy Money:

A power play goal in the first period at +125. My $5 bet would return $11.25.

Risky Business:

Edmonton Oilers to win and Connor McDavid to score 2+ points at +200. My $5 bet would return $15.00.

Can’t Miss Parlay:

Buffalo over Philly on the money line, and Seattle over Montreal on the money line at 2.16. My $5 bet would return $10.83.

Despite coming out even on my bets for the night, I would have much rather watched the Oilers close out a win rather than cough up another two-goal lead. I don’t know why the boys keep finding new and creative ways to shoot themselves in the foot, but that’s where we’re at right now.
  • Leon Draisaitl to register 2+ points at +105. ✅
  • Over 1.5 total power play goals at +100. ✅
  • Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Mikko Rantanen to register +1 assists at +200.
  • Carolina over Columbus on the money line, Toronto over Detroit on the money line, and Boston over San Jose on the money line at 2.36.
And there you have it, friends. Now that you know what I’m betting on — I’ll be throwing one unit down on each bet, for the record — feel free to hit me up in the comments section to let me know what you’re looking at against the Kings.
