Risky Business is brought to you by NHL odds site Betway!
Am I allowed to make terrible jokes to mask the pain that is the 2023-24 NHL season, or nah? Either way, I’m in Seattle for tonight’s game as part of a #NationVacation, and that has me feeling a little friskier than usual. Maybe if I bet the farm on the Oilers to win, my good vibes will reverberate in the Universe and manifest themselves as a big divisional win. Maybe if I close my eyes and visualize the money hitting my betting account, I will soon find those riches flowing to me like the mighty North Saskatchewan. It’s worth a try, no? To this point in the season, I’ve been visualizing Oilers wins without much success, so perhaps a change of pace is in order. Maybe I just needed to be more selfish this whole time.
If you’re following along at home, the odds I’m using for my game day betting articles all season come from Betway. Here’s what I’m putting down against the Seattle Kraken.

Player Prop:

Connor McDavid to score at +100. My $5 bet would return $10.00.

Easy Money:

Oilers over 33 shots at -134. My $5 bet would return $8.75.

Risky Business:

Oilers puck line at +190. My $5 bet would return $14.90.

Can’t Miss Parlay:

Oilers to win and over 5.5 goals at +162. My $5 bet would return $13.12.

RISKY BUSINESS PRESENTED BY BETWAY

Last Game

Pain. Suffering. Hurt. It all sucks when you lose to the worst team in the NHL, and when you add in the fact that I also lost a bunch of money then you’ve got the makings of a really bad time.
Here’s what I bet against the Sharks:
  • Ryan Nugent-Hopkins to register a power play point at +115.
  • Over 1.5 total power play goals at -143.
  • Edmonton to win every period at +500.
  • Oilers to win and over 7.5 total goals at +200.
And there you have it, friends. Now you know what I’m betting on and how I did last game. As always, I put one unit down on each bet. Hit me up in the comments section to let me know what you’re looking at against the Kraken.
It’s also worth noting that betting lines move throughout the day, so that may be the reason why what’s listed above doesn’t match what’s on Betway when you put together your own bets.
