It’s the first intermission of the Wild vs Oilers game and we have to talk about something.
The game is tied 1-1 after the first period, but more importantly, Leon Draisaitl just scored his seventh goal of the season. After a slow start, Leon Draisaitl is starting to show his true colours while potting goal after goal. His first goal of the game tonight was on the power play and although it was a beauty finish by Leon, I’m here to talk about the assist by Nuge. Take a look for yourself below.
After some great puck control by Connor McDavid, he dishes the puck back to the point for an Oscar Klefbom one-timer. The Klefbom bomb is stopped by the Wild goalie and bounces back out to the slot to where Ryan Nugent-Hopkins stood waiting patiently for his opportunity. The puck bounces just outside of Nuge’s reach but he lays the body out and deflects the rebound over to Leon Draisaitl who is sitting pretty backdoor. Leon makes no mistake and pots the pass from Nuge into the empty net to put the Oilers on the scoreboard.
The athleticism Nuge shows here is amazing. Add this to the list of reasons why I, and the rest of the City of Edmonton, loves Nuge and hope he stays an Oiler forever.
