NCAA hockey is back.
After the 2020 Frozen Four was cancelled back in April and the 2020-21 season got delayed both due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the league finally got up and rolling this weekend. The marquee game on Friday night to kick off the season featured the Wisconsin Badgers and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
In the second period with the Badgers up 1-0, Dylan Holloway was fed the puck at the point and ripped a shot past Irish goaltender Dylan St. Cyr. Holloway takes the pass, waits out one Notre Dame defender, and blasts a quick wrist shot glove side on St. Cyr right inside the left post.
It was an absolute bomb of a wrister considering how quickly he got it off. Pretty good stuff from a player who apparently doesn’t have any offensive upside!
The Badgers would end up winning 2-0, with Holloway earning the nod as the game’s third star.
Here are some thoughts from people who tuned into the game…
Holloway will certainly be an exciting prospect to follow this season. While he didn’t light the world on fire offensively as a freshman, Holloway was one of the youngest players in the NCAA last season, so this year he’ll be able to take on a much bigger role on Wisconsin’s roster.
The Badgers will play Notre Dame again on Saturday night and then, next weekend, they’ll host the University of Michigan Wolverines.
