WATCH: Puljujarvi wins it in overtime, Nygard and Broberg score as well

Could there be a better start to your Saturday than having a trio of our boys find the back of the net in their respective European leagues? I don’t think so. And since there’s not a whole lot else that’s going on right now, I figured I would share the clips with you.

@JESSE PULJUJARVI

After another positive COVID test on the roster shut the team down for the second time this season, Karpat was back on the ice today and our boy scored himself a beauty to close out the game in overtime. A few minutes into the bonus peries, Jesse Puljujarvi took a beautiful bank pass off the boards and found himself in alone on the goaltender, sneaking a wrister through his arm and body to win the game for Karpat.
Puljujarvi, who inked a two-year deal with the Oilers earlier in the offseason, is currently playing with Karpat Oulu of the SM-Liiga as the NHL continues to work on getting the 2020-21 season going, and I cannot wait to see how much (if any) of this offensive confidence will translate when he gets here. If Puljujarvi can chip in with 12-15 goals for the Oilers then you’d have to think that’s a successful first season back, right?

PHILIP BROBERG

The thing I like most about the goal you’re about to see by Philip Broberg is how quickly he pulled the trigger on a shot after picking up the cross-ice pass that was deflected on its way to him. Regardless of how long it takes for him to make the full-time leap to the NHL, Broberg is playing some meaningful minutes with Skelleftea of the SHL and he’s starting to find a little bit of scoring touch as well, which would undoubtedly be a huge add to the left side of the depth chart.
I don’t think anyone would argue when I say that Philip Broberg has quickly become one of the prospects that most Oilers fans are keeping a close eye on. Over the span of a year, Broberg has gone from a questionable pick in some circles, I still remember a few fans booing the selection at our draft party last summer, to a blue-chipper that we can’t wait to watch in Oilers silks.

@JOAKIM NYGARD

I’m not going to lie to you guys… sometimes I kinda forget that Joakim Nygard is an Edmonton Oiler so as I was watching highlights to include in this post, I almost spaced on putting him in here. That said, I don’t think it should matter how we got here but rather that we made it in the end. As for the goal, Nygard found himself wading through traffic in the slot where he was available and open to smash home the quick pass that set him up on a tee.
To this point, Nygard had been having a little bit of a slow start to his season in the SHL so it’s nice to see him pick up a goal today. Hopefully, finding the back of the net will give him the boost of confidence that he needs to get himself on a heater.
