The Edmonton Oilers signed Finnish winger Jere Sallinen to an unusual one-year entry-level contract today, signalling the official beginning of procurement season. How did Sallinen do in the KHL this season? Let’s have a look.

No word on Sallinen’s status for the rest of this season (or if he would come over should there be an opportunity in Bakersfield, or Edmonton) but he would appear to be a curio for training camp in the fall. He played 14:54 during the season—and increased playing time was available in the playoffs—but the only thing that jumps out on his scoring line is 79pims. I suspect we are going to watch the new hire play a rugged game and hit everything in sight (82 hits in 50 games, no idea if the KHL counts hits accurately). If we assume this is a 4-line option for next season, we probably won’t go wrong.
