This week Oilers prospects lit the lamp and made significant noise, with one prospect enjoying a breakout week in his minor league career. Oscar Klefbom (photo by Rob Ferguson, all rights reserved) had a wonderful week as he builds his resume on the way to the NHL.

A big week for Oscar Klebom, one would have to think a recall is possible if Niki Nikitin’s injury lingers on much longer. Anton Lander also had a strong week, but if the Oilers felt he was one of their five best options he’d be in the NHL right now.

Bogdan Yakimov suffered an upper body (believed to be shoulder) injury that looked quite severe at the time, we should find out soon if he’s out for any length of time. Laurent Brossoit also suffered back problems and missed last weekend’s games. Edmonton sent Richard Bachman and Luke Gazdic (rehab stint) so the lineup this weekend (OKC plays Saturday and Sunday) will have a different look.

Greg Chase had a quality week, he’s recovered from a slower start and now looks to have an impact leading up to the World Juniors. Kyle Platzer leads the Oilers’ junior prospects in points and is one of the biggest surprises in the organization this season. Darnell Nurse should have a big week coming up as he’ll be settled in and ready.

Vladimir Tkachev: 10GP, 4-11-15 with Moncton (QMJHL). He went 2GP, 1-2-3 this week.

This was a poor week for the Euro’s, but the good news is they’re playing (aside form Zharkov). Slepyshev has been in a prolonged slump and we may see him sit for awhile.
