The Edmonton Oilers will be looking to avoid getting swept in their season series with Minnesota when they host the Wild on Friday as small -115 betting favourites on the NHL odds at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.
Edmonton has produced steady results of late, earning at least a point in five of its past six outings, but has come up short in two previous meetings with Minnesota this season going into Friday night’s matchup at Rogers Place.

Wild at Oilers | OddsShark Matchup Report

The Oilers are coming off a 2-1 overtime loss to the Boston Bruins as +165 home underdogs on Wednesday night. However, the team has produced steady results in recent outings on home ice, going 6-1-2 over their past nine according to the OddsShark NHL Database.
Overall, the Oilers offence has produced with consistency, averaging 3.84 goals per game during a 12-4-3 run that began on New Year’s Eve. However, a recent spate of injuries finally caught up with the team against the stingy Bruins, with Oilers shooters mustering just two shots on goal in the opening frame of Wednesday’s loss. In addition, Edmonton’s lone goal against Boston came with the extra man, continuing the club’s reliance on the power play, which has produced 33% of their scoring over the past six games.
Wednesday’s loss also marked the end of Leon Draisaitl’s torrid point-scoring streak. Draisaitl had padded his lead atop the NHL scoring race with 12 points over the previous five games, and has produced steadily against the Wild, racking up 11 points over his past 10 appearances against Minnesota.
The Oilers have struggled to rack up steady results against the Wild. The team dropped a 6-5 decision as -115 chalk at online sports betting sites in a December 12 visit to Minnesota after getting shut out 3-0 in their first trip to Xcel Energy Center this season back in mid-October. Home wins over the Wild have also been rare, with the Oilers claiming victory in just three of 17 such meetings since the start of the 2010/11 season, but they recorded a decisive 7-2 win in Minnesota’s most recent visit in December 2018.
The Wild arrive in town after eking out a 4-3 win in Vancouver on Wednesday. An 8-4-1 run has kept Minnesota in the playoff hunt, but the Wild continue to lag in the Western Conference standings with a shaky 11-15-2 road record this season.
