The Bakersfield Condors have named veteran winger Seth Griffith the fourth captain in the team’s AHL franchise history.
Griffith, 31, is the longest-tenured player on their roster, spending five years in Southern California, scoring 79 goals and 244 points in 258 games with the team. He takes over the captaincy from Brad Malone, who served as captain between 2020 and 2024 before retiring after last season. Keegan Lowe (2018-20) and Ryan Hamilton (2015-18) are the two others in Condors AHL history.
He’s been off to a great start to this season, racking up seven goals and 13 points in 15 games, a 0.95 point per game pace that’s just below the .95 mark he’s had in his first four seasons in Bakersfield.

Drafted by the Boston Bruins in the fifth round of the 2012 draft, Griffith struggled to find his way in the NHL, scoring eight goals and 19 points in 80 games with 30 games being the most he’s played in a single NHL season.
However, he’s found a home in the American Hockey League, spending a decade in the minor leagues with the Providence Bruins, Toronto Marlies, Manitoba Moose, and Condors. He’s been named to the AHL All-Star game twice (2016 and 2023), the AHL first All-Star team (2015-16), and the AHL second All-Star team (2021-22).
Griffith has appeared in one game with the Oilers, appearing in a Dec. 18, 2021 game, playing 5;37 on a night where the team ran just 11 forwards. On that night, Kyle Turris was out of Edmonton’s lineup due to injury.
The Condors will recognize Griffith during the first period of Saturday’s night’s game when they host the Ontario Reign, a night which is also their Teddy Bear Toss game.
