The Bakersfield Condors have signed a local boy in James Hamblin to a two-year AHL contract.

Hamblin, 21, stands at 5’10”, 181 lbs. and just completed his final season in the WHL where he scored an impressive 36-56—92 in 63 games. The centre led the Medicine Hat Tigers in scoring each of the last two years completing his WHL career scoring 115 goals and 283 points in 323 games.

This past season, Hamblin ranked third in WHL scoring.

Captian of the Tigers, Hamblin was a 2014 first round WHL draft pick and played with Tyler Benson in 2012-13 with the Southside Athletic Club bantam program.

“Jimmy was a complete player. He doesn’t do one thing particularly well, he does everything excellent,” said Tigers assistant coach Ryan Smith in a release. “We relied on him to generate offence, shut down other teams’ top lines and play both sides of the special teams. Jimmy was usually the first player to the rink and the one of the last to leave. He wanted to get better every day.”

The Bakersfield Condors serve as the AHL affiliate for the Edmonton Oilers.
