The Oilers took one of their most disappointing losses in memory on Monday in Columbus, and the mood around Oil Country is back in the dumps. Is there hope? Are we doomed? Let’s talk about it in this week’s episode of Better Lait Than Never.
I kicked off this week’s episode of BLTN with a look back on Friday’s Pittsburgh Penguins game and how it was the most fun I’ve had an Oilers game in quite some time. Not only did I have a blast with the boys, but we even ended up at the casino together afterward in the hopes of great wins. I also spent a few minutes talking about the World Series and the insane moment that happened in last night’s game when a Yankees fan tried to pull a ball out of Mookie Betts’ hand.
Turning the podcast to the Oilers, I had to start with the news that Connor McDavid will be out of Edmonton’s lineup for the next 2-3 weeks with an ankle injury. While that timeline isn’t as bad as it could have been for our captain, the Oilers will need a bunch of players to step up in his absence. I mean, if Monday’s game against the Blue Jackets is any indication of what the team will look like without their captain, then we are in a world of trouble.
Finally, I wrapped up this quick episode of BLTN with a Righteous Sack Beating about other fanbases cheering for injuries before wrapping up the show with another round of voicemails. The inbox was quieter again this week, but that didn’t mean you fine folks didn’t still make me laugh anyway. I certainly had a healthy chuckle listening to everything that’s been on your mind over the last seven days.
