The Edmonton Oilers will be looking to pick up their first win of the season against an opponent from the Central Division when they host the St. Louis Blues on Wednesday night as -140 betting favourites on the NHL odds at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.
Edmonton has fallen to defeat in three dates with Central Division opponents this season, all on the road, extending their losing streak against the Central to seven games going into Wednesday night’s game at Rogers Place.
Blues at Oilers | OddsShark Matchup Report
The Oilers tallied just one total goal in their recent losses to Minnesota, Winnipeg, and Chicago, and have also struggled in recent clashes with the Blues, losing two straight while getting outscored by a wide 11-3 margin according to the OddsShark NHL Database.
Edmonton has also struggled in recent home contests, falling to defeat in each of their past two, capped by a 3-2 overtime loss to the visiting Arizona Coyotes as a -115 bet on Monday night. But despite that loss the Oilers have continued to play strong defence over their past four outings, allowing just two goals per game. That has helped extend a steady run for the UNDER in totals betting, which has gone 9-3-0 in the Edmonton’s past 12 games.
Those stingy ways have also produced points for the Oilers in each of their past three contests, enabling them to remain atop the Pacific Division standings with 22 points through 16 games, and fueling improving +1000 odds to win the Western Conference at betting sites.
The Blues travel to Edmonton for Wednesday’s matchup after facing Vancouver as a +105 wager on the road on Tuesday night. The team has produced steady results when playing in the second half of back-to-back games, winning four straight, including three straight wins on the road. But despite their recent steady play, the Blues yet to reach the top of the odds to win the Central Division, where they continue to lag behind the Nashville Predators as a +225 bet.
