The NHL announced this morning that Connor McDavid’s torrid pace over the past week where he registered 10 points in four games has landed him as the first star of the week.
With five goals and five assists for 10 points in his last four games, Connor McDavid was deservedly named as the NHL’s best player for a week that saw him take over the NHL’s scoring race with four face-melting performances. Unsurprisingly, this past week has also been a success for the Oilers as they went 3-0-1 in the four games played.
The Oilers captain, and reigning Art Ross Trophy winner, has currently amassed 99 points (39G, 60A) in 76 games played so far. In his last 27 games, McDavid has scored a whopping 24 goals to go along with 21 assists for 45 points. If McDavid can successfully defend his title, he would become the first repeat Art Ross Trophy winner since Jaromir Jagr won four straight from 1997-98 to 2000-01 with the Pittsburgh Penguins.
So far this season, McDavid has already set a new career high in goals scored (39) and he will be looking to supplant his career high of 100 points as well.
