While NHL players head to their respective bubble cities Sunday, a rumour has surfaced that Edmonton Oilers’ Jesse Puljujarvi could be taking his talents to Switzerland.
According to German news site watson.ch, the National League’s SC Bern is showing interest in signing Puljujarvi. While listed as a “doubtful rumour” on Elite Prospects, it could provide Puljujarvi with a chance to continue to prove his worth for NHL clubs.
Another Finnish temptation for Langnau and Bern is Jesse Puljujärvi (22), a Finnish-Swedish dual citizen. The strong, fast, massive wing was fourth best scorer in the Finnish league last season. It would actually be the perfect addition for the rather small, young and light Langnauer or it would go with the SCB.At SC Bern, despite the hiring freeze, a right-wing shooting to the right is sought.
Last month, a report surfaced that Puljujarvi and the Finnish team he played with last year, Karpat Oulu, hadn’t negotiated a contract.
SC Bern struggled this year and was the fourth-worst team in the 12-team NL. Bern, however, has done a good job of turning out NHL talent over the years.
Current Oiler Gaetan Haas played for Bern last in 2018-19 and former Edmonton Oilers forward Marc Arcobello scored 48 points in 50 games there last year.
The likes of Roman Josi and Nico Hischier are two NHL’ers who developed their game there.
