The first TSN Trade Bait list for this offseason has been released and one Edmonton Oilers players have made the list.
Adam Larsson has made the appearance in the number 15 slot.
The 27-year-old defenceman is making his first appearance here as a member of the Oilers and there’s much speculation he could be traded this offseason.
Larrson’s largely one-dimensional game caused issues on the Oilers backend this past season and with only one year on his contract left before unrestricted free agency. Paid only $4.1-million this year, his contract isn’t a big pill for other clubs to swallow amid a flat cap.
While his isolated impacts show good defensive impacts to the tune of five percent better than league average, his offensive impact is five percent below league average and that’s ever apparent watching games.
There’s already evidence of at least one team, the Toronto Maple Leafs, having shown interest in Larsson over time.
As we look ahead into the offseason it’s not unrealistic to see the Oilers move on from Larsson. Edmonton needs another mobile two-way defender in its top-four.
