Senators linked to Ingram, two ‘available’ goalies would waive to join Oilers

The Edmonton Oilers need at least one more goaltender to round out their crease for the 2026-27 season.
Who that will be is a big question mark as the team approaches free agency. Connor Ingram provided sturdy goaltending after being thrust into the team’s starting role just a few months after being acquired from the Utah Mammoth, moving from the AHL to the team’s playoff Game 1 starter.
But with his contract up, there’s been little noise on whether the Oilers see him in their future plans. On Oilers Now on Tuesday, Bob Stauffer seems to think Ingram is headed to the East Coast.
“I think there’s a chance that Ingram potentially ends up in Ottawa. I have a sneaking suspicion it might be Ottawa.”
Ottawa has been linked to both Ingram and former Oiler netminder Stuart Skinner, as they seek stability in goal after the up-and-down season of Linus Ullmark and the lacklustre performance of their backups.
Ottawa Citizen reporter Bruce Garrioch reported in early June that Ingram was in play for the Senators.
“Veteran goaltender James Reimer, who was brought in with the club struggling to get saves in January, is still contemplating his future,” wrote Garrioch. “He’s 38 years old, and the Senators haven’t closed the door on bringing him back, but know they need to stabilize the backup position behind Linus Ullmark.
“He has never played more than 50 games in his career and the No. 2 in Ottawa will have to start at least 35 games. There is a lot of talk that UFA Connor Ingram will be a target for the Senators on July 1.”
The goalie market overall is still dictated by what the Florida Panthers decide about Sergei Bobrovsky, who reportedly is seeking a long-term contract. Florida is also not out on Connor Hellebuyck, despite trading significant assets to acquire Brady Tkachuk.
The goalies under contract that may get traded, like Jordan Binnington, Adin Hill, and others, are just as curious to find out what the market is, according to Dave Pagnotta of The Fourth Period.
He was a guest on Oilersnation Everyday on Tuesday.
“I talked to two of them yesterday, two guys whose names are out there, they’re just as eager to find out what’s happening,” said Pagnotta. “They know most of the options that are available to them, and Edmonton is one of them, and both of these guys would be open to going.
“I think right now Stan (Bowman) and company are kind of seeing what the market is. What are the options? What’s the opportunity cost to get these guys?”
The Oilers hope to gain more cap space by trading Darnell Nurse, but how much more, or whether that trade comes to fruition soon, is obviously still up in the air.
