The NHL announced the season openers for all 31 teams this afternoon with our beloved Oilers opening up the 2019-20 schedule against the Vancouver Canucks on October 2nd at Rogers Place.
Unlike last year when the boys started their year in Europe, the Edmonton Oilers will be kicking off the 2019-20 season in the warmth and comfort of Rogers Place. Looking at the above graphic, there are only four games happening on October 2nd and I’m happy to see that the Oilers are one of them. Remember how frustrating it was last year to have to wait nearly a week or so before getting to watch our boys play? There will be no such wait this time around.
I mean, yeah, the Oilers lost the opener against New Jersey and things didn’t really get all that much better after that, but I’d have to imagine it’ll be nice to not have to deal with variables like jetlag and international travel at such an important time of the year. Either way, we now know that we have 103 sleeps up until the 2019-20 season kicks off and I, for one, could not be more excited to get things started.
