On April 11th, the hockey world was shocked by the tragic passing of Colby Cave and the Edmonton Oilers announced this morning that they will be honouring him with a #WeSkateForColby hashtag.
One of the first things we saw from this morning’s training camp was that the Oilers have decided to honour the late Colby Cave by featuring him prominently on the big screen at centre ice along with the #WeSkateForColby hashtag. While it’s a simple gesture, it didn’t take long for the hashtag to start moving around Twitter and Instagram and it made me very happy to see Oilers fans embracing the movement and using the tag. That’s why I wanted to take a couple of minutes to promote the hashtag so that we’re all able to use it throughout this playoff run and make sure that his memory stays alive.
In response to the tribute, Emily Cave thanked the Oilers with a simple message, “He would be so humbled. Thank you so much.” Let’s get out and win the Cup for Caver.
