A few updates on injuries around the Oilers on this fine Monday morning in thanks to our own Jason Gregor.
Gregor is reporting a few things:
- Duncan Keith is likely to return Tuesday night against the Philadelphia Flyers.
- Kailer Yamamoto is likely going to miss another game or two.
- Ryan Nugent-Hopkins is out “maybe two weeks” with a shoulder injury, but a timeline to return isn’t exactly known.
Keith was injured on this scary play on February 9th when he crashed hard into the boards are Rogers Place and appeared unconscious.
He was reported to miss about two-to-four weeks, so a Tuesday return would put him at around the three-week mark. He has yet to play a game under Jay Woodcroft and I’m curious to see how he’ll be deployed. Will the Oilers still run 11/7? Or will the team revert to the standard 12/6?
Yamamoto, meanwhile, was hurt Saturday against the Florida Panthers. He blocked a shot late in the game and missed Sunday’s matinee against the Carolina Hurricanes.
Nugent-Hopkins, too, was injured Saturday against the Panthers.
no shifts for ryan nugent-hopkins in the final nine minutes of the first period. speculation is that he got injured on this play.
Ryan Lomberg had finished a check on Nugent-Hopkins along the wall and he had appeared to be in some discomfort right away. He didn’t return and missed Sunday’s game, too.
