The Edmonton Oilers have placed forward Brad Malone on waivers, the club announced Friday.
The journeyman forward has been with the big club since Nov. 23 and has appeared in 10 games this season scoring no points. Maloneās placement on waivers likely means that one of Ryan McLeod or Warren Foegele are nearing a return from injury.
Foegele is the likely candidate to return here. Heās been out of the Oilers lineup since Nov. 26 when he was injured in a game against the New York Rangers. His injury remains undisclosed.
McLeod, meanwhile, suffered a lower-body injury in that same game and hasnāt been in the lineup since.
Malone will likely be able to clear waivers and will be sent to the AHLās Bakersfield Condors. Heāll be a big boost to the Southern California club who has struggled this year. They sit ninth in the AHLās Pacific Division with a 9-13-1 record and are among the lowest-scoring teams in the AHL.
Last year with the Condors was one of Maloneās most productive where he scored 14 goals and 39 points in 52 games.
The Oilers next game comes Saturday afternoon when they take on the Anaheim Ducks.
