Edmonton Oilers prospect Raphael Lavoie cut from SHL team

Edmonton Oilers prospect Raphael Lavoie has been cut from the team he was set to play for in the SHL.
Lavoie, 19, was set to premiere for the SHL’s Rögle BK, but according to the club, they broke their contract with Lavoie on the day of the season opener.
Rögle’s sports director Chris Abbott spoke to HockeyNews.se about the decision to cut Lavoie and this is what he had to say, via google translate:
Nothing dared, nothing won I guess. We took over Raphael to see if it was a good solution for him, us and the Edmonton Oilers. A decision had to be made before today and we felt that it was best for everyone to make this decision as we had the opportunity to break the contract. We felt it was a reasonable decision for us, he is a good player and has a bright future but with a whole and healthy squad he would not take place right now.
Lavoie had played four pre-season games for the club scoring one assist.
Rögle is reportedly chasing Montreal Canadiens prospect Cole Caufield and there’s speculation that’s part of why Lavoie was cut.
No word on what’s next for Lavoie, but it’s clear he had high aspirations in trying to make the SHL club.
