But very few players have ever scored as many points — or had the same longevity — as Czech legend Jaromir Jagr, whose iconic No. 68 was retired by the Pittsburgh Penguins last month.
The Oilers faced off against the Penguins Sunday, with Edmonton defeating the slumping <a href="https://oilersnation.com/2024/03/10/instant-reaction-edmonton-oilers-get-back-into-the-win-column-with-commanding-win-over-pittsburgh-penguins/">Pittsburgh team by a 4-0 shutout score</a>.
But after the game, Jagr was on hand to meet up with a few members of the Oilers, including McDavid and Draisaitl, for a brief chat about all things hockey and life.
&#8220;What an easy night!&#8221; <a href="https://www.nhl.com/oilers/news/gene-s-blog-sunday-with-sixty-eight">Jagr said to McDavid</a> after the big Oilers win. &#8220;You don&#8217;t even sweat, you get three points, and then you go home.&#8221;
Indeed, McDavid did score three points, a goal and two assists, in the 4-0 win over the Penguins on Sunday night. Darnell Nurse scored twice, Mattias Ekholm netted the other goal, and Calvin Pickard posted a 41-save shutout win.

Jagr played with nine different NHL teams during his own legendary career in North America. After being drafted No. 5 overall by the Penguins in 1990, Jagr spent 11 seasons with the team and won the Stanley Cup in 1991 and 1992.
The Penguins traded Jagr to the Washington Capitals in 2001. After three underwhelming seasons in D.C., he moved on to the New York Rangers, with whom he served as team captain.
Jagr left North America for the KHL in 2008. He joined Avangard Omsk, racking up a ton of points over three seasons before finally returning to the NHL as a 39-year-old in 2011.
In his second tour of duty in the NHL, Jagr played for the Philadelphia Flyers, Dallas Stars, Boston Bruins, New Jersey Devils, Florida Panthers, and Calgary Flames. He finished his NHL career with 766 goals and 1,921 points in 1,733 career games.
Since leaving the NHL, Jagr has served as a player-owner with the Kladno Knights in Czechia. He has four assists in 15 games with Kladno this season.
McDavid and Draisaitl will likely get their own jersey numbers retired by the Oilers one day. Until then, they&#8217;re slated to return to action against the Washington Capitals on Wednesday evening at 8:00 p.m. MT.
