The Edmonton Oilers have managed to pick up the win and pay out at online sports betting sites in each of their last six games against the Winnipeg Jets. Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl and company will be looking to continue that string of success against the Jets when the two teams do battle in a first-round North Division NHL playoff matchup.
And Edmonton has been listed as the -165 favorite (wager $165 to win $100) on the playoff series prices at sportsbooks, with Winnipeg the +145 underdog (wager $100 to win $145).
The Oilers managed to beat the Jets just once in their first three meetings of the regular season back in January and February, but Edmonton has dominated Winnipeg since then with those six straight victories. That includes back-to-back wins by a combined score of 9-2 on the road when the teams last hit the ice together on April 26 and April 28.

McDavid powered the Edmonton attack in both of those late-April contests, with a hat trick and four points in a 6-1 win and three assists in a 3-1 victory. But despite boasting the top two scorers in the league the Oilers have not been a strong wager for OVER bettors in their games against the Jets lately, with the UNDER paying out on the NHL betting lines at sportsbooks in four of the last six games between the teams with one PUSH result as well.
Mike Smith was in net for the Oilers in the team’s 6-1 victory on April 26, and he allowed just the one Jets goal on 37 shots. Overall Smith started five games against the Jets this past season, earning four wins while putting up a 2.06 goals-against average and a .936 save percentage with one shutout. Connor Hellebuyck made seven starts for the Jets against the Oilers, going just 2-5 in those seven contests with a 3.96 GAA and an .877 save percentage.

Edmonton’s strong record against Winnipeg this past season allowed them to lock up second place in the North Division standings, and has them positioned well ahead of the Jets on the Stanley Cup odds at sportsbooks heading into the NHL postseason. The Oilers sit at +1600 on those NHL betting futures, with the Jets back at +3300 odds. The Toronto Maple Leafs are the top Canadian club on the NHL futures board, set at +600 odds to win the Stanley Cup.
