The older I get, I find the more days seem to fly by. They’ve begun to blend together now that I’ve reached my mid-twenties, but there are still some things that feel like they last a lifetime.

And that for me is writing here at the Nation.

Five years ago this week I joined OilersNation and it’s been a ride I’ve absolutely loved. Prior to joining the Nation I wrote for a slew of Oilers blogs: Copper and Blue, Oil On Whyte, The Oilers Rig, Beer League Heroes, and most notably, the much revered JSBMRevolution. As great as they all were to me, the Nation has always felt like home.

It’s funny looking back at it all. I got my start writing in thanks to baggedmilk. We stumbled across each other in the early days of Oilers Twitter, only to find out he went to school with my older brother. That interaction kicked off my writing career and made me realize I can get paid to cover the wonderful game that is hockey. It led me to journalism school, covering the Memorial Cup, to working in the daily news world, back to covering live hockey in the WHL’s Calgary Hitmen, to even being able to meet the love of my life through these opportunities.

And now, it’s led to me moving to Edmonton and taking on a full-time role with the Nation.

It’s been the biggest blessing of my life, and I wanted to take the time to thank you, the reader, for sticking along this wild ride. Edmonton has been so welcoming and as a St. Albert native who grew up in Calgary, coming home has always been something I wanted to do. The support Nation citizens have shown to the company and I means the world.

I’ve written nearly 930 articles — over 700 since Jan. 2020 — here at OilersNation and the truth is we’re just getting started. The sky is the limit for what we will accomplish here and I can’t wait to continue on this journey.
