Well, that’s a game of the season contender.

On Wednesday evening, the Edmonton Oilers started a five-game home stand by hosting the Boston Bruins. Despite a 4-1 comeback and a 5-4 comeback, the Oilers couldn’t pull out the win in overtime, falling 6-5.
At least they picked up a point.
Let’s take a look at the Oilersnation’s Player of the Game, as well as things worth mentioning.

<h1>Oilersnation’s Player of the Game: Warren Foegele</h1>
Maybe don’t move Warren Foegele out of the top six?
<a href="https://oilersnation.com/2024/02/21/illness-leaves-ryan-nugent-hopkins-questionable-for-edmonton-oilers-game-against-boston-bruins/">Ryan Nugent-Hopkins missed the game due to illness</a>, which prompted the Oilers to elevate Foegele to the top six. Well, it didn’t take long for the team to be rewarded, as Foegele got in on the forecheck, made a Connor McDavid-esque move, and slotted it home for his 12th goal of the season. At the time, this made it a 1-1 game.
But that’s not all, as Foegele scored Edmonton’s second goal of the game to make it a 4-2 game, kick starting Edmonton’s comeback. Zach Hyman found him with a sneakily little pass, leaving Foegele all alone in front of the net and slotting it by the Bruins’ netminder.
On the season, Foegele now has 13 goals and 29 points. He’s already matched his career-high in goals, but Foegele is now just a point shy of matching his career-point tally as well.
<h1>Things worth mentioning:</h1>
Evander Kane didn’t have a great game. That could’ve all been ignored, but another Oiler shot the puck down the ice, and instead of beating out the icing which he could’ve easily done, he went for a change. Unfortunately, you can’t change on an icing, and the Bruins scored with him and the same group on the ice. Just not a great effort from Kane tonight.
Corey Perry, Kane’s linemate at times tonight, had a great game on the other hand. Down 3-1, Perry fought  Bruins defenceman Parker Wotherspoon, bringing the opposition down to four defencemen for five minutes. While Perry took a two-minute minor for instigating, it was the right play, especially since he scored the game-tying goal to cap a 5-4 comeback. That’s now three Oilers goals for Perry.
Connor McDavid added two assists to his point total, bringing him to 21 goals and 85 points on the season and is now just nine points shy of first in the Art Ross race. After his assist in the first, that was 13 points in 13 straight periods, the first time that had happened in 28 seasons since Mario Lemieux did it.
Stuart Skinner had another sub .900 save percentage night, his fifth such game in a row as he saved 29 shots on 35 attempts for an .829 save percentage. However, he made a few big saves in the first period when the Bruins were left alone in the slot while also allowing a few weak goals. There was no bigger save in the game than his breakaway save against James Van Riemsdyk, who yes, still plays hockey.
Edmonton returns to action on Friday as they’ll host the Minnesota Wild, who are still sniffing around a playoff spot. With the overtime loss, the Oilers move to two points behind the Vegas Golden Knights with three less games played. Moreover, they gain a two-point cushion on the Los Angeles Kings, who have been surging as of late with an additional game in hand.
The Oilers have to finish the month strong here to see what they need at the trade deadline.
