McDavid Tops TSN List for Third Straight Year

Sep 24, 2019, 13:38 EDT
@Connor McDavid is the best player in the NHL for the third consecutive year, according to TSN.
The site recently released their rankings for the top 50 players in the NHL, with Connor topping the tenth annual list. The Oilers’ captain claimed 91% of the voter ballots, according to Steve Dryden of the site, largely based on achieving a spectacular feat.
“McDavid collected 116 points on 222 Oiler goals, meaning he was in on 52.3 per cent of team goals in his 79 games. That puts him in the company of Mario Lemieux, Teemu Selanne, Jaromir Jagr and Wayne Gretzky as the only players to exceed 50 per cent in a single season (minimum 50 games).Gretzky topped out at 51.9 per cent in 1984-85 when he earned 208 points. Lemieux holds the all-time mark, 59.2 per cent in 1988-89, when he recorded points on 199 of 336 Pittsburgh Penguin goals over 76 games.”-Steve Dryden, tsn.ca
Only two other players earned first place votes, the @Tampa Bay Lightning’s @Nikita Kucherov, who had two, and the @Colorado Avalanche’s @Nathan MacKinnon, who had one.
Connor finished ahead of @Sidney Crosby, Kucherov, MacKinnon, @Patrick Kane, @Auston Matthews, @Alex Ovechkin, @Brad Marchand, @Victor Hedman, and @Aleksander Barkov in the top ten.
Connor returns to the ice tonight in preseason action against the @Arizona Coyotes for the first time injuring his PCL in the 2019 season finale against the @Calgary Flames.
