PROS AND CONS
- PRO: Maroon is gigantic and the Oilers desperately need some size in their lineup
- PRO: Comes in as a guy that can play right now as opposed to Gernat and the 4th that may never play.
- CON: Skating has been described as “average” for an NHL player
- PRO: $1.5 million for a guy that can bang, crash, and has a little bit of touch isn’t a bad deal at all.
- PRO: Beard game is stellar (see above photo).
- CON: Some scouting reports describe Maroon as inconsistent (not really a surprise for a bottom six player with upside).
- PRO: Maroon is an underrated colour and hopefully this trade will bring light to that.
- CON: The Oilers now have less magic beans and I know how much you guys love your beans.
- CON: Some Oilers fans really overvalue 4th round picks.
REACTION
Maroon for a 4th and failed prospect? That is epic dealing. Just lovely. Dude, Jerrod Smithson cost a 4th rounder 3 years ago. Insane.

So basically a fourth-round pick. https://t.co/StqTcYR1MX

Good time to buy low on Maroon. Having a bit of down year compared to last two. Smart. Better than overpaying. #Oilers

“His puck control and puck protection is very good. He handles the puck very well. He has a nose for intensity.” Pardy on playing Maroon.

Maroon is big, fairly physical. Pouliot, Kassian, Maroon, Draisaitl.. team is getting heavier in their top 9, building for cycle game.

Good move by Chiarelli here, as it mitigates the one major risk on Maroon, as overpay if he underperforms. https://t.co/8Qs8aGCdXO

Guys named Cracknell, Pardy and Maroon join the Oilers? The big winner today was Gene Principe.
