Well, Oilers fans, just when you thought things could not get much worse to begin the 2023-24, Connor McDavid is now out for one to two weeks and could potentially miss this Sunday’s Heritage Classic.

McDavid left the game late in the third period and did not play in overtime. Edmonton ultimately fell 3-2 in the extra period after Mark Scheifele beat Stuart Skinner. It was disappointing for the Oilers, especially after they held a 2-0 lead after the first period. Unfortunately, another goaltending mistake led to the game-tying goal in the second period. It’s now three games in a row that the Oilers have allowed a shorthanded goal.
