There are a few things I love more in the world than newspapers.
They’ve existed for hundreds of centuries as ways to disseminate information to the public, and for nearly as long as they’ve been printed, so too have Letters to the Editor. Those letters serve to give you, the reader, a voice — something that Oilersnation has been about since its inception in 2007 — after all, we are a site “by NHL fans, for NHL fans.”
My passion for journalism and newspapers as a whole stems from the years I spent working for papers, and I want to bring some of that influence to Oilersnation. And so, stepping into the new year as the new Managing Editor, I want to bring Letters to the Editor to Oilersnation.
We’ve had the Monday Mailbag, run Monday morning for nearly 10 years by BaggedMilk, where a variety of Oilersnation writers have answered your questions, but Letters to the Editor will allow your voice to be even larger.
How can you get involved? It’s simple. Send me an email (zach.laing@bettercollective.com) with the subject line reading “Letters to the Editor.” Include a letter up to 200 words, including your name, and your place of residence — a city, town, province, or state if you’re in North America, or country if you’re located internationally. Your letters may be edited for length and/or clarity.
These articles will run on Sunday mornings, giving you a chance to wake up, pour a cup of coffee, and see what Nation Citizens have to say.
Below will be something you’ll start to see in more articles as a reminder to reach out. And as always, if you have any questions, comments, queries or conundrums, you can reach out to me at the same email address.
Oilersnation wants to hear from you, the reader, in our new weekly “Letters to the Editor” segment. Letters can be emailed to Oilersnation’s managing editor Zach Laing (zach.laing@bettercollective.com), titled “Letters to the Editor.” Please include a letter up to 200 words, including your name, place of residence (city, town, province, or state). Your letters may be edited for length and/or clarity. Letters must be submitted by 6 PM MT Saturday night to be considered for feature on Sunday mornings.
Zach Laing is Oilersnation’s managing editor, and The Nation Network’s news director. He also makes up one-half of the Daily Faceoff DFS Hockey Report. He can be followed on X at @zjlaing, or reached by email at zach.laing@bettercollective.com.
