The second Top 5 list in the series, as we count down the best of 2017, will look back at the best fights the Oilers had to offer this year.
In the first Top 5, we broke down the top 3 hits and saves of the year. This second list will focus on the fisticuffs as we count down the top fights from the past 12 months.
Let us get to the fights, shall we?
Number Five:
J.C. Lipon vs Jujhar Khaira
Preseason or not, JJ is always ready to stand up for his guy. Lipon gets a little lippy here and off come the gloves. Khaira tossing some bombs there.
Number Four:
Zack Kassian vs Brandon Dubinsky
When one punch can end a fight, you’re a monster. Nick Foligno wanted all of Kassian, but it was Brandon Dubinsky that got his, in the form of a broken orbital bone. Foligno thanks his lucky stars that it wasn’t him.
Number Three:
Antoine Roussel vs Eric Gryba
Short but sweet. The only way to describe the number three and four fights on this list. Roussel wanted this one but Gryba was cooking some right fists up for him.
Number Two:
Brandon Manning vs Patrick Maroon
Brandon Manning, public enemy number one in Edmonton forever. He decided before this game to admit he had intentionally hurt Connor. In return, the team spent one half of the night smashing the Flyers, and the other half smashing Manning until he took this fight. Maroon got his pound of flesh for sure.
Number One:
Michael McCarron vs Darnell Nurse
Nurse and McCarron having a great go here. You wouldn’t know the Habs and Oil only play each other twice a year in Bettman’s new NHL. Nurse unloaded to start. Looking like he was just having fun. McCarron comes back at the end a bit but Darryl has it in the end.
So there it is. The Top 5 fights of the 2017 year for the Oil. Let me know in the comments if you thought I missed one.
Keep an eye out for the final segment of this series with Top 5 goals of 2017.
