Throughout the summer and into the fall, we’ll be counting down the days until the Edmonton Oilers begin their 2023-24 season with a daily trip down memory lane.
There are 82 days to go, so let’s continue the countdown with Jordan Oesterle — one of two Oilers to ever wear the number.

A December 11th, 2017 article from the Chicago Tribune details Jordan Oesterle playing a bigger role with the Chicago Blackhawks.

PLAYER COUNTDOWN PRESENTED BY BETWAY

The Jordan Oesterle saga in Edmonton was a short, but sweet one.
Edmonton signed him as an undrafted free agent once he finished up his college career at Western Michigan University. The rearguards final season saw him score two goals and 17 points in 34 games, and opted to join an Oilers team where he could climb the ranks quickly. That, however, didn’t happen in Edmonton.
When it was all said and done, his tenure in Edmonton lasted just three years and saw him play only 25 games in the Orange and Blue — but that doesn’t mean he hasn’t had a successful pro career.
The majority of his time had been spent with the Oilers’ AHL club, then known as the Oklahoma City Barons, where he played 157 games scoring 82 points. He left the Oilers organization as a free agent in 2017 signing with the Chicago Blackhawks but after just one year, was traded alongside Marian Hossa’s contract and other pieces to the Arizona Coyotes.
Three years there, followed by the past two seasons in Detroit, and Oesterle has stuck around in the NHL having played 349 games scoring 19 goals and 84 points. While he’s underlying numbers have never been great, he’s averaged 18:13 per night and more than made a career of it signing now having signed six NHL contracts.
His most recent? With the Calgary Flames, with whom he will play for this season.

How many days are left until the Edmonton Oilers start the 2023-24 season? 82!

Can you guess who will be featured in tomorrow’s countdown?
