Baggedmilk on #theLOCKERROOM: Oilers have lots of room to improve in Game 2

It’s game day and the boys at The Locker Room wanted to bring me in for yet another chapter of your ol’ pal Baggedmilk’s adventures in radio. As I will now do for every game day, I jumped on the air with the boys for a quick segment to talk about the Oilers while also offering my takes on anything else that’s going on in the world.
To kick off this week’s segment, we jumped in with a look back at Game 1 and how it was not the Oilers’ best effort by any stretch of the imagination. From the bad start to the poor zone coverage to the lack of physicality and everything in between, the Oilers did not play anywhere close to their best hockey and that will need to change ahead of tonight’s rematch. Needless to say, the Calgary Flames are not the LA Kings and that means there is no room for mediocrity in this series, or else it’s going to end up as a short one. With the negative noise out of the way, we looked for some positives to take away from the first game in this series. For me, the biggest one is that the Oilers found a way to get six even strength goals past Jacob Markstrom, and even though I know that won’t be the norm in this series, this was yet another game where the boys were able to beat the Vezina candidate. Regardless of what happened on Wednesday, the Oilers are going to need a much better effort in Game 2 if they have any hopes of evening up the series before it comes back to Edmonton on Sunday.
