Baggedmilk on #theLOCKERROOM: The Oilers’ top four is elite and Jack Campbell’s night against the Predators

5 months agoHappy Wednesday, Internet friends, and welcome to yet another chapter of your ol’ pal Baggedmilk’s adventures in radio. As I do every week, I jumped on the air with the boys on The Locker Room for a quick segment to talk about the Oilers while also offering my takes on anything else that’s going on in the world.
To kick off this week’s segment, we got started with a cheeky little conversation about how the Oilers’ top-four matches up against Toronto’s group. While there’s no doubt that both sides have high-end talent, the Oilers’ group actually has a sizeable advantage in terms of overall points. On the flip side, however, I was also quick to point out that the Leafs get a whole lot more depth scoring than the Oilers do and in this league, having more players that can score makes a huge difference. From there, we looked back at last night’s win over the Predators for how it was yet another example of Leon Draisaitl doing whatever he pleases against that franchise. Even though everybody knows he has success against Nashville, Leon outdid himself once again with a casual little five-point night to help guide his team to victory. Another big part of that win was the performance by Jack Campbell even though it didn’t look that way initially after he allowed a goal on the first shot of the game. To Soup’s credit, he bounced back in a big way and ended up not only closing out the win but turning in the best performance he’s had in a while. Something to build on perhaps? Finally, we wrapped up this week’s appearance with a quick chat about Evander Kane as he is still months away from returning to the lineup, and how we miss his skillset on this team in a massive way.
